Sometimes you just need a 'Little Something' as Winnie the Poo said, 'To cheer you up' and today with me, it was nail polish. Bright turquoise polish. I would love to say a big thank you to the lady who assured me that you are never to old for turquoise polish, on a day when I was feeling a tiny bit creaky, a bit tired of things, a weeny bit grey... do you have days like that?
Yesterday there was a knock at the door and there stood a man. His car had a flat tyre just outside our gate. He asked, with very little hope in his eyes ( perhaps I had no knowledge of where it was or what it was for...), if I had a jack for changing a tyre? I leapt to the boot of our car and triumphantly produced my jack. He looked astonished and, I must admit, impressed! The tyre was changed and soon they were on their way again, off to shop in town. Later in the day, he arrived again at the front door with a big bunch of flowers.... ' So kind ' he said, and 'Good to know people will help you sometimes'. It made me feel there should be more of this, a lot more, and the world would be a better place.
Then there is Deborah, who kindly let me know I was a no-reply blogger.... who knew?? Help! What is that? So thank you to all those people who explain things on the net and again to Deborah who told me how to fix it. So now I am ( I hope) a 'reply blogger' and people can find me easily. Deborah has some lovely work on her website and you can see it here. She will be at the Festival of Quilts too. Oh, I can't wait for that quilt show!
Christmas quilt top by Green Star Quilts |
This week I have finished the Christmas quilt top. The wadding is cut and the backing measured. The fabric is Enchanted Forest by www.stof.dk and I bought it here at the fabric warehouse in Leicester. Do look at their website, they have some fantastic offers. Quilting begins next week. For those of you who were wondering, they are holly leaves at the bottom! I have also finished painting the hall and the chair, with the cushion which says it all.... made from a t-shirt which husband gave me when we had just got married, bless the man !
My second home is finished too...decorated and the garden is perfect. The new roof is weather proof, the windows mended and now I hope another generation of little people will enjoy it too... I really enjoyed painting the roses up the walls...
Work is never finished at our cathedral here and for some people it can be inconvenient. The work men try to be as accomodating as possible so that locals can take their normal route around the building and get in and out in the usual way...

Absolutely adore the turquoise nail polish and no, you never are too old :) I agree, there does need to be more kindness in this world and what a lovely story of helping someone out and then receiving such a beautiful surprise in return. Made my heart smile. Your quilt top is adorable! And that pillow? Perfectly said! ;) Such a wonderful post, thank you for sharing! Judy
I love that little cat flap!
Thank you Judy, life is full of little surprises isn't it,
Sue
Yes, they could have just made a square hole, but the cat shape made all the difference. I bet it made lots of people smile too,
Sue
